Visitors realize how special The Crocker Hill Store is even before they walk up the granite steps. They are impressed by Steven's meticulous edging in the garden, the copper vines adorning the signpost, garden gate and picket fence and the curve of the granite path inviting them inside.

Built in 1834 as the registry of deeds office, we knew as soon as this lovely heritage building came up for bid in early 1998, it was meant for us. The exposed brick walls, original coal burning fireplace, interior wood shutters and the brick vault (now our studio) make an interesting backdrop for Steven's pine cupboards filled with essentials for the simple life. His copper vine lamps only add to the shop's charm.

• The Crocker Hill Store is located in the heart of historic St. Andrews-by-the-Sea, New Brunswick Canada. About 20 minutes from the Calais, Maine and the St. Stephen, New Brunswick border, 1 hour from Fredericton, our provincial capital and less than 1 hour from Saint John.



• Follow the signs into St. Andrews and proceed to our downtown district. Look for the public wharf and you're almost there.



• We're just a quick stroll from Water Street. Look for a handsome brick building surrounded by gardens on King Street.
